STAFF at a Boots store in Wirral will be "sadly missed" by customers after it closed last week.

On Saturday, January 20, the Boots Pharmacy on Greasby Road closed its doors to customers.

Last June Boots announced that it was shutting 300 of its stores across Britain over the next year.

The move, which it said would impact stores in close proximity to other sites, plans to reduce its store estate from 2,200 to 1,900 stores.

Boots said there were no proposed redundancies despite the plan, with plans to redeploy affected workers.

A post by a Greasby Road Boots staff member on social media thanked customers for "all the cards, gifts and kind words".

They also wrote that the staff have "loved being a part" of the community and were "so sad" to be closing their doors.

It continued: "On behalf of my team in Boots, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all your support over the years, and letting us be part of your community.

"And an even bigger thank you for all the cards, gifts and kind words we've received the last few months, we have been truly spoilt.

"Take care, and don't forget to order your prescriptions!

'You will all be missed so much'

The post was flooded with comments from residents expressing their sadness.

One said: "You will all be missed so much, thank you for always going above and beyond, good luck to you all."

Another wrote: "Good luck to you all. Always had lovely service in the pharmacy when collecting my prescriptions. Sad to see Boots leave Greasby."

A third said: "So sorry to see you go. Thanks for all your help and support in the past. You'll be sadly missed. Such a short-sighted decision to close, in my opinion. Good luck to all the staff for the future".

Boots confirmed to the Globe that they were not issuing a comment on this matter.
