AN Ellesmere Port takeaway is in the running to be named the 'Best Regional Takeaway' in Britain.

Ellesmere Port Kebab and Pizza House, owned by Rahim Sayak, has been serving customers for 14 years.

38-year-old Rahim explained that he likes his job as it is "very enjoyable".

In 2017, the takeaway was named Best Regional Takeaway in the British Kebab Awards and this year, they are in the running to take the crown again.

Rahim said: "I was proud and very excited when we won in 2017.

"Local MPs came to the ceremony as well and we got the award together. It was a very good night."

The British Kebab Awards, now in its 12th year, celebrates the "diverse and delicious world of kebabs".

Each year, members of the public vote for their favourite kebab shop through the British Kebab Awards, with all the finalists revealed before a winner is crowned.

Rahim will attend the 2024 ceremony on Tuesday, February 27 at Park Plaza Westminster Hotel in London.

He added: "We have lots of regular customers and I want to thank all of those customers who support us.

"I would love to win again. I say to my customers when they come in they must vote because whoever gets the most votes will win.

"It would be great for us and I would be so proud."
