NEW mosaic artwork has been unveiled at a Wirral railway station.

On Friday (January 12) two mosaics were installed at Bebington railway station.

The work was created by local mosaic artist and co-owner of Blooming Skull Coffee, Lou Cross, and took three months to design and install.

Lou told the Globe: “I loved working on this project alongside George at Love Bebington, I was thrilled when he asked me to get involved.

“I love mosaic as an art form, its timeless nature and durability makes it my favourite medium.

“It’s a total pleasure to see my work up in my local area and I hope it brings a little bit of joy to the commuters of Bebington.”

The mosaics are part of community group, Love Bebington’s train station adoption project, which aims to make the rail network a nicer experience for commuters and visitors to the local area.

Chair of Love Bebington, George Lamb, said: “We’re pleased to be able to unveil our latest artwork project at Bebington train station.

“In partnership with local mosaic artist, Lou Cross of Bad Hand Mosaics and Blooming Skull Coffee, we’re proud to unveil two new mosaics, celebrating the community of Bebington.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to Lou who has worked so hard on these incredible pieces over the past few months.

“Our brief to Lou was to create mosaics which celebrated the community of Bebington and she has certainly done that and more. Incredible work. We’re lucky to have such talented and community-minded artists in our community.

“We’d like to say a massive thank you to our partners at Merseyrail, Wirral Council and to our local Bebington councillors who have been a huge support of this project. Thank you also to our contractors who installed the mosaics for us.

“We’d also like to thank our local councillors in Bromborough and Rock Ferry who have also been hugely supportive of our work here. We couldn’t have done any of it without you all.”
