WIRRAL Globe readers have fond memories of their favourite restaurants that have closed down over the years.

After asking readers which closed restaurant they miss the most, many have shared their answers with us.

Among the most popular choices were What's Cooking, Pancake Kitchen, Alacadoo and Pastime.

Restaurant chain What’s Cooking? offered a variety of American diner food and drinks, including burgers and steaks.

There were branches in Heswall and West Kirby but they both closed down.

Helen M Jones said: "What’s Cooking in Heswall loved going there."

Chris Smart added: "What’s Cooking in Heswall! Loved it in there."

Another top favourite was Pancake Kitchen in West Kirby which was well known for their "delicious" pancakes.

Frazer Gillespie said: "The Pancake kitchen... always a birthday treat as a kid."

Carol Bordley added: "The Pancake Kitchen West Kirby, kids used to love it, so did the adults."

Pastime Restaurant had been a fixture in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead for 25-years before it closed in 1998. 

People who dined there remember it as the place to celebrate a special occasion such as a wedding or birthday.

Sue Rogerson said: "The Pastime loved going there."

Another very popular choice for readers was Alacadoo in West Kirby.

Lisa Arnold said: "The Alacadoo in West Kirby where Figo's is now."

Sue Kendrick added: "The Allacadoo!"

Other restaurants named included Monroes in Liscard, Naughty Edwardian on Argyle Street, Grange at Thornton Hough and Surma in Moreton.
