THE owner of a Wirral cleaning business left her nine-to-five office job to help others in need.

Hannah Longden, owner of Lazara Cleaning Services in Prenton, started her business in 2021 during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Wanting to give back and make a difference in people's lives, Hannah, 28, decided to follow her passion and turn her love of cleaning into a new business venture.

She told the Globe: “I knew I wanted my own business, but I didn’t necessarily know what.

“I wanted to do something that would make a difference in people’s lives and help them so I thought 'what am I good at?' and the answer was cleaning.

“Cleaning for me brings my mind to peace, it relaxes me, so if I thought if I can make others feel like that through cleaning then I’m already winning.”

In between working a nine-to-five in an office job, Hannah began offering her services cleaning people’s homes and quickly built up her clientele.

She said: “It just boomed. I ended up earning more doing my cleaning job part-time than I was doing my full-time job so it was a no-brainer to proceed with it and grow it.

“Since then, I’ve really niched down my skill set and knowledge and built the business of my reputation.”

As well as domestic cleaning, Hannah and her team are certified in biohazard cleaning meaning they can reach people who are in need with specialised cleaning techniques.

She said: “We’re CPD certified in biohazard cleaning so we can offer unattended death cleans, needle sweeps, bio restoration, trauma cleans, mental health cleans, hoarder cleans and we work with alcohol and drug abuse charities too.

“It means we can help people who need the service rather than a luxury so we can reach more people doing what we love to do and make a difference.

“It’s so important for people who struggle with their mental health to feel like they can reach out. We are non-judgmental, approachable, and understanding. I know some people can be embarrassed to come forward but that’s what we are here for. Our services are accessible and open to anyone and everyone who needs them.”

Lazara Cleaning Services has been shortlisted for Best Domestic Cleaning Company 2023 in the National Cleaning Industry Awards which are set to take place in Birmingham this month.

Hannah said: “I never in a million years thought I’d be shortlisted it’s such a lovely feeling. I had to read the email twice when I found out I didn’t think anything would ever come from it. I’m just so happy to be shortlisted.

“We’ve got a small team of four who operate across the Wirral and it’s slowly growing. I 100% have no regrets about starting my own business. Don’t get me wrong times have been testing but starting your business tests your character and resilience and when you believe in something and your work reflects and justifies what a difference you’re making it gives you that incentive to push through the hard times and keep going.”
