A WIRRAL care manager who “always puts people first” has won an award.

Mary Jordan started her journey with Home Instead Wirral back in 2008 when she joined the company as a care professional, working in the local community providing care to clients in their homes. She then moved on to an operations position and worked as a scheduler, ensuring that clients and care professionals were matched and that the right care professional was in the right place at the right time.

As time went by, Mary became an area care manager, regularly meeting with clients and their families to ensure that the care that they were receiving was suitable and appropriate for what they needed.

Then, when the opportunity arose Mary applied for the position of registered care manager which she has been in for the past three years.

During the Great British Care Awards 2023, North West England & Northern Ireland Mary was awarded the ‘Putting People First’ Award for her dedication to her role.

The judges described Mary as “exudes an unwavering passion for prioritizing people” and being “truly a remarkable and compassionate individual.”

Mary said: “What an honour to receive this award. It might be a job, but it doesn’t feel like work because I know that I am helping people in the community. It can often be a challenge, but the fantastic clients and supportive colleagues I work alongside make it so worthwhile.”

Mary will now attend the National Great British Care Awards 2023 as a finalist in March 2024, taking place in Birmingham.

Mike Charlton, co-owner of the company, said: “Mary is the beating heart of Home Instead, full of life and energy. Myself and the team at Home Instead Wirral are immensely proud of Mary. We really do appreciate her outstanding commitment over the years. The clients love her and she is an absolute pleasure to work with. I look forward to seeing what she achieves in the future.”
