CHRISTMAS lights will be switched on in memory of those whose lives have been cut short by suicide during a special event tomorrow (Friday, December 8).

The Forget Me Not Christmas event, now in its second year and in aid of Wirral suicide prevention charity The Martin Gallier Project (MGP), takes place at Carr Farm Garden Centre in Meols.

The event will start from 5.30pm with a visit from Father Christmas. There will also festive stalls, a speech from Tranmere Rovers manager Nigel Adkins, local singer Libby Crombie and dance troop, Intensity Dance Company.

Jessica Gallier, chief executive of The Martin Gallier Project said "I am so glad that we are able to host this beautiful event for a second year as it means so much to so many.

"Christmas time is a particularly difficult time for those of us bereaved by suicide. A time during which we feel our loss profoundly.

"Whilst we can't take that pain away we can stand alongside one another and feel supported in our grief.

"Last year people came from far and wide to remember those they had lost to suicide, support one another through the festive period and find hope for the year ahead. We really hope you can join us again this Christmas."

Carr Farm spokesperson Catherine said "We're so excited to be hosting The Martin Gallier Project with their Forget Me Not Christmas campaign.

"After last year’s success we are really hoping the public will come and show their support once again as we join families and friends affected by suicide.

"This event is about remembrance, healing and support, but most importantly is a celebration of their commitment to provide life saving interventions. We hope to see you all there.”

The event is completely free to attend, but each light can be sponsored for a minimum donation of £5.

All funds raised will be used to fund life-saving suicide interventions at MGP.
