MEET Gillie, our dog of the week who is on the lookout for an energetic family.

The 10-month-old Crossbreed, currently being looked after by staff at Dogs Trust Merseyside, is described as having 'boundless energy'.

A spokesperson for the rehoming centre said Gillie is 'a gorgeous, friendly, affectionate boy who is learning to channel his enthusiasm so he can enjoy the company of his human and canine friends to the full and reach his true potential as he becomes an adult dog'.

He loves to chase balls and is also very good at entertaining himself with a squeaky toy, which in turn entertains anyone who happens to be around to watch.

Georgina Lowery, manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, said: "Gillie is bundles of fun and a typical young dog so he is looking for an energetic family who can keep him active mentally and physically.

"He loves the company of other dogs so it would be great for him to meet up with them when he’s out and about as he will learn from them, but we think for now he’d be best as the only dog in the home given his energy levels.

"He will benefit from training, as do all young dogs, but he thoroughly enjoys being active, so we are certain he’ll continue to enjoy learning new things.”

Gillie can live with confident children over the age of 14 and he would like his new family to be around most of the day. Home alone times need to be built up gradually.
