A WIRRAL mum has transformed her home into a Christmas wonderland in aid of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital this festive season.

Kathlean Williams, who lives on Circular Drive in Greasby, has covered the outside of her house in Christmas lights for local families to enjoy.

It is the second year the 38-year-old Clatterbridge health care assistant has put on the display after taking over from her parents.

Kathlean told the Globe: “I took over from my mum and dad last year as they used to do it at their home in West Kirby but since my mum took ill they’ve been unable to carry on doing it.”

Last year Kathlean’s display raised £811 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital from visitors donations and she hopes to raise even more this year.

She said: “It’s taken us around three weeks to get all the decorations up. People love it and the smiles on the kids’ faces are priceless.

“I do it because my brother, Simon, died when he was two and a half years old from cancer and Alder Hey looked after him.

“The hospital has given us all the signs and buckets which will be on the fence outside for donations. We also have a letterbox for kids to post their letters to Santa and we will reply to every letter.”

Children will also receive a present and selection box from Kathlean’s husband, Arron, who will be sitting on a sleigh outside the house dressed as Santa.

Kathlean said: “People come night after night and so many families can’t afford to take their kids to see Santa so it’s really rewarding.”

The Christmas lights will be lit every night from 5pm until 7pm until Christmas Eve when they will be turned off at 9pm.
