RESIDENTS and staff from a Wirral care home got into the Christmas spirit with a visit to Blackpool.

The team from Barchester’s Caldy Manor care home, in Caldy, visited Blackpool to see the famous lights and visit the Tower Ballroom.

Residents and staff "all enjoyed dancing together listening to the organist and, when they needed a rest, they sat down to watch the other dancers while having some delicious wine and cake".

The residents visited one of Barchester’s sister homes, Glenroyd in Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, where they had tea before driving through the illuminations on their way home.

Over some chocolate treats on her return, resident Sheila said: "I can’t believe how lucky we are, I am grinning from ear to ear.

"I have been wanting to go back to Blackpool for years, I always used to take the children when they were younger. It was so lovely to visit the tower and the ballroom and see all the lights – it has been the most wonderful day out."

General manager, Hannah Roberts, said: "We absolutely love being able to take our residents out and about to visit all kinds of attractions, it makes us all so happy to experience events like this.

"It has been a fantastic day and we’ve all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves."
