A MACHETE and a knife were recovered during open land searches.
Yesterday (Friday, November 18) officers conducted open land searches across Wirral.
A knife was recovered in Oxton while a machete was recovered in Bebington.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We will relentlessly target people and locations for such lethal weapons and continue to ask ourselves, "Why are some so stupid to carry them". We will arrest, we will apply for Serious Violence Reduction Orders (SVRO) against any individual (which gives police additional powers to stop and search them anytime they are spotted) and we will seek CPS support to prosecute.
“We want the community to be safe, feel safe.
“Any information on persons carrying knives, or hiding them, should be reported to police so we can act and prevent serious or fatal injuries.”
