A WIRRAL branch of supermarket giant Morrisons has had a £1.6m makeover that will be revealed to customers this week.

The store on Dee Lane in West Kirby has, according to branch manager Amy Howard, been "completely modernised" with the store's layout and facilities "hugely improved".

All will be revealed during the store's launch event on Thursday (November 23) at 9am.

The new-look store includes a new home and leisure section, an extended Nutmeg Clothing section and brand new deli and bakery counters.

The refurbishment has seen the creation of ten extra jobs and ten Christmas temporary jobs for the local area.

A number of activities will take place on relaunch day, including a wide range "from fizz to flowers".

As part of the store's community charity partnership with West Kirby Youth Centre, staff will be collecting and donating on the day.

It will also be a day of celebration for the store's landmark achievement of collecting more than £60,000 worth of donations to Wirral Foodbanks through their Morrisons Food Bank Bag Donations - all donated by our local customers.

Store manager Amy Howard told the Globe: "It is the first time the store has seen a change of this scale in more than ten years.

"It has been completely modernised and brought into the 21st century and I, along with my colleagues at Morrison's West Kirby, can't wait for our customers to see it.

"The store has remained open throughout. with a lot of work going on behind the scenes. It's going to be an exciting day."
