A 68-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his wife at their house in Clock Face.

On Wednesday, November 15, a woman in her 60s was found unresponsive inside a house in Cannon Street in Clock Face.

Paramedics attended but the woman was pronounced dead.

Stuart Robertson, of the same address, appeared before Liverpool, Knowsley and Sefton Magistrates' Court this morning (Friday, November 17) where he was charged with the murder of 62-year-old Dawn Robertson.

Bespectacled Robertson, wearing a prison issue grey tracksuit, spoke only to confirm his address and date of birth.

He was not asked to enter a plea at this stage.

Robertson was remanded in custody and told he must return to Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, November 21 at 9.45am for a pre-trial preparation hearing.

Following Mrs Robertson's death, Detective Chief Inspector Allison Woods, said: “Our thoughts first and foremost are with the woman’s family following this tragic incident.

“An investigation is underway in the area and our officers are in the early stages of establishing exactly what happened.

“While we have already made an arrest, our specialist officers remain at the scene as we carry out forensic examinations and review any CCTV footage in the area.
