Merseyside Police confirmed that enquiries have been carried out.
The owner of the car, Dave Lyon, told the Globe: “I have no idea who’s done it. It was fine Saturday afternoon as a friend went past while going to Tesco’s in the village. I can only assume it occurred very late Saturday night/early Sunday. I went out to the car around 8-9am on Sunday morning when I noticed it.

“I was very annoyed when I saw it. The only good thing is that it didn’t damage the bodywork which would have been even more costly so at least it was only the glass as part of the interior which I’m hoping to have fixed.”

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: “Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 23001099321.”
