A NEW mural has been revealed in Wallasey.

Liverpool artist Paul Curtis was commissioned by Wirral Scouts to create a piece of artwork which is situated on Brighton Street, Wallasey.

The image was designed with the help of young Scout members and the final piece features Birkenhead Explorer, Jack and West Wirral Scout, Beatrice sharing a conversation around a campfire.

The mural was unveiled on Saturday (November 4) by Wirral Mayor, Jerry Williams and Scout Adventurer, Sean Conway. Sean, who holds the world record for completing 105 iron mans in 105 days, has written six books and starred in three Amazon Prime documentaries about his life.

Paul told the Globe: “I’m very proud to be part of such an uplifting project. The Scouts Association offers young people so many opportunities to do things they may not otherwise have a chance to do. I love the outdoors, just as well really considering what I do.

“I have really enjoyed trying to capture that feeling that only comes with being there, in the wilderness with friends around a campfire. That's just a small part of the scouting life I guess, but there is obviously much more too”.

The image entitled, “#SkillsForLife”, measures 72 square metres and took 10 days to complete.

Local Growth Officer for Scouts, Karen Currums said: “Working with Paul on this mural has been a dream. We have a huge number of scouts right across the Wirral but to continue to give young people opportunities to have fun and adventures, we rely on adults volunteering their time.

“We hope that Paul’s amazing mural will spark the imagination of local people and inspire them to help us assist our Scouts in realising their potential. We had a fantastic time at the unveiling, bringing the community together and celebrating our Scouts achievements and all of the hard work our volunteers do.

"We’re delighted with the mural and extremely grateful to Paul for providing us with a lasting legacy for the Wirral Scouts.”
