AN animal rescue charity has announced the closure of one of its Wirral stores.

Jackson Animal Rescue, which rescues and rehomes animals in Wirral and across Merseyside, announced that it would be closing its charity shop in Moreton next month.

The shop, based on Hoylake Road, Moreton, opened on September 2, 2022.

In a statement, the charity said: It’s with a very heavy heart that we have to tell you that our Moreton shop will be permanently closing on 4th November.

“We moved here over a year ago and sadly it’s just not been as successful as we hoped and is no longer sustainable for us to keep open.

“We want to thank everyone who has supported our shop, and we have been so very grateful for your donations and your custom.

“The shop is unable to take donations from today and all stock will be sold from now until 4th November at a reduced price.”

The announcement was met with well wishes from local people.

One person said: “That's a shame, well done for all the work you all put into the shop for the animals sake.”

Another said: “I'm sorry the Moreton shop hasn't been sustainable. It's difficult for all shops, including - maybe especially - charity shops at the moment. Well done for trying.”

A third commented: “So sorry to hear this, such a lovely little shop and lovely staff.”

Another person added: “Sad news but I understand. At least you gave it your best shot but maybe time to channel your energies (and money) into more of your fabulous animal care. I'm proud to be a supporter, you're all amazing.”
