AN apprenticeship recruitment campaign set up by Wirral Met College and Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) is on target to achieve its aim.

Launched this summer, '100 Apprenticeships in 100 Days' has gained "substantial momentum, creating exciting opportunities for individuals seeking career development while supporting local businesses in their quest for growth and expansion".

Small to medium-sized employers in Wirral and Liverpool City Region have been offered vital financial support to recruit apprentices, along with the opportunity to provide training and development for their existing workforce.

Since its launch, the '100 Apprenticeship Pledges in 100 Days' campaign has seen enthusiastic participation from employers across a diverse range of sectors, including restaurants, hair salons, accountants, construction companies and engineering maintenance.

Karen Taylor, owner of Wallasey-based restaurant, Chuck Wagon by Taylors Kitchen, who recruited an apprentice through the scheme, said: "This is a fantastic scheme for small independent businesses.

"The support and funding of Wirral University Teaching Hospital has made it affordable for to us to take on new staff from the local community.

"This helps us achieve and maintain our mission statement of 'by locals for locals'.

"Working alongside Wirral met is helping us share our skills, giving the new employee a more rounded experience to take forward to their future career”

Individuals looking to progress their careers, switch career paths, or return to the workplace will find ample opportunities through the 100 apprenticeship roles being developed during the campaign's 100 working days.

A spokesperson for Wirral Met said: "As the campaign nears its end, the partnership is delighted to announce that the target of '100 Apprenticeship Pledges in 100 Days' is well within reach.

"There's not long left for employers to seize this exceptional opportunity to support their local community and invest in their organisation's future.
