A HAIRDRESSER who said breast cancer "changed her life" is holding a masterclass blow-dry event at her salon.

Louise Fudge, from Heswall, was diagnosed with breast cancer on May 9.

The award-winning colourist had a successful operation at Clatterbridge Hospital on June 21, and was given the all-clear.

Speaking to the Globe, Louise said: "Getting breast cancer has changed my life. My immediate thoughts were for my children and how it would affect them, but they’ve been brilliant.

"It was challenging with three boys, 16, 13 and seven who all have different needs, but we have all pulled together.

"Keeping a positive mindset is essential to battle through the weeks of uncertainty."

Breast cancer fundraiser

Louise, 48, is now launching a breast cancer fundraiser following her own battle.

Louise, who opened her first Heswall salon in 2019 and launched larger premises this year, recently returned to the salon floor.

She added: "As the type of cancer I had was oestrogen receptor-positive (ER-positive), thankfully the only treatment I’ve needed after surgery is Tamoxifen.

"The team at Clatterbridge were fantastic, but I believe the screening age should be lowered.

“It was such a shock diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and turned my life upside down.

"I developed an ache rather than a lump, and I was turned away from the doctors the first time I visited as it wasn’t typical – but thankfully I trusted my instincts and it was treatable due to being caught early.

"Since returning to the salon I’ve been planning ways to raise awareness and give back, and launching a fundraising masterclass during Breast Cancer Awareness Month was the perfect opportunity."

The masterclass blow dry event has been designed to showcase the insider tips and tricks stylists use to create the perfect blowout every time while enjoying a glass of fizz.

Ticket holders will be treated to a step-by-step demo by Louise, who will share her years of knowledge on everything from the right way to prep hair, to the secret behind achieving amazing volume.

The Louise Fudge masterclass blow dry event will take place on Thursday, October 19, from 6-8pm.

Tickets which include a goody bag are priced at £25, with all proceeds going to breast cancer charities. Call 0151 342 7272 to book tickets.
