A WIRRAL artist whose work is attracting international attention is preparing for her first home-town exhibition.
Leanne Hughes will showcase a selection of her one-off acrylic pictures during the event at Oakland Gallery in New Brighton from Friday, October 20 until Sunday, October 29.
The Wallasey-based abstract floral artist's work will be available to browse or purchase from the Victoria Road gallery.
The much celebrated local artist, who has a BA Hons degree in Fine Art and whose work has been sought after by avid collectors globally and in some cases selling for thousands, is displaying her work in New Brighton for the first time.
The exhibition will feature a range of various sizes of one-off canvas paintings — lovingly created for her local community.
The exhibition begins with a VIP Launch Night at Oakland Gallery from 7pm on Friday, October 20. The event will feature a talk from Leanne about the meanings behind her work on display, a Q&A, live acoustic music, nibbles and Prosecco provided by The Good Hood.
The evening will also feature a talk from guest speaker Dan Davies — the man behind the New Brighton regeneration project and all the street art in the area.
Tickets to the VIP Launch Event are free and attendees will have first refusal on Leanne’s wonderful work for sale as well as receiving a goody bag.
Looking forward to the exhibition, Leanne said: "After selling mostly online and also a select few exhibitions further afield, it feels great to be finally exhibiting my work in my hometown.
"I have been working on this special collection for some time now as I want to gift my local community with some of my greatest work, whilst also offering it to people for a very affordable price."
Since graduating with a BA Hons degree in Fine Art in 2015, Leanne’s work has wowed art collectors around the world and she has developed a reputation as an incredible talent in the field of flower and nature art — with explosions of colour that jump off the canvas.
The New Brighton exhibition will not only feature her finest work, but also a selection of prints and calendars available from as little as £10.
Leanne continued: "I must say a big thank you to Dan Davies from Rockpoint Leisure for offering me the Oakland Gallery space and supporting my work — thanks to his generosity I am able to offer my work for a great price.
"That said, even if people just want to come and have a browse and a chat about art everyone is welcome — the main aim of my colourful floral art is to make people feel happy."
The exhibition intends to take people back to long summer days and memories of wild flower meadows as the colder, darker months creep in, whilst also coming at a perfect time for Christmas gifts.
Leanne’s work is said to have been cherished by discerning art lovers as far and wide as Japan and Canada — but now local enthusiasts have the opportunity to experience her beautiful work in a unique New Brighton showcase.
Leanne summarised: "I absolutely adore flowers and the aim of my work is to remind people of the beauty of nature and where we come from.
"We're living in a concrete world where we have become grey and detached, so through my art I intend to remind people of the magic of flowers and the great outdoors — hopefully reconnecting them with nature in the process.”
