A WIRRAL shopping centre is recognising local businesses through a new awards ceremony.

Cherry Tree Shopping Centre is supporting the Liscard High Street Business Awards by recognsiing the work the people of Liscard undertake. The awards cover all aspects of business in Liscard, from Independent Businesses to National Businesses.

The events up for nomination are: Independent and National Business of The Year, Independent and National Customer Service Award, Best Window Display, Unsung Hero Award, Young Person of The Year, Hair or Beauty Business of The Year, Independent and National Food or Hospitality Business of The Year.

Rob Weaver, Economy Chair for Liscard Together, said: “As a store manager and member of Liscard Together, I believe the first Liscard High Street Business Awards are a great way to celebrate and recognise the great work and effort that goes on every day to make our high street a great place to shop, socialise, and work. I think it’s important that local independent and national businesses collaborate to keep our high street alive and these awards are a great way to bring us all together. We want to engage with the local community and visitors of Liscard with all 10 categories being decided by public vote.

“Our categories also recognise individuals who have make a significant contribution to their business or high street with our ‘Unsung Hero’ award and ‘Young Person of the Year’ award. The ambition is to make this an annual event, giving our local and national businesses in Liscard the opportunity of publicity and ultimately potential economic benefit. It is brilliant that the Cherry Tree is supporting and partnering with Liscard Together to make the first awards a reality.”

Residents  and fellow shoppers are able to place their vote by heading down to Cherry Tree Shopping Centre, filling out the required information on the voting form and placing their entry in the post-box.
