A WIRRAL sports school has recieved a top mark from a government-led awards scheme.

LIFE Wirral is a small, independent sports school where children with a passion for sport are offered a "high-quality individualised education, alongside direct access to the very best human performance coaching and sports specific training available".

It has now been awarded the School Games Gold Award for the 2022/23 academic year.

The School Games Mark was launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

When an application is submitted to them, it is graded automatically against that year's criteria. This determines whether the application is likely to be at a bronze, silver, or gold level.

Alex Saverimutto, Director at LIFE Wirral said: "This is an achievement we’re extremely proud of.

"Thank you to our amazing LIFE Wirral Team for all of their support in helping to drive forward standards and opportunities for our students in sport and physical exercise.

"As a sports school, we wholly understand the importance of promoting good health to the young people of today.

"Whether that be physical exercise, good nutrition, mental health or developing good relationships - we value them all greatly.

"Our small school approach and pioneering mental health team allows us to give our students the individualised attention to meet their needs and help them realise their true potential."

This award follows LIFE Wirral's recent achievement of being shortlisted for the Tes Awards Best Inclusive School in the Country for 2023.

'We hope to help plenty more children in the years to come'

Alex added: "We thoroughly enjoyed the chance to celebrate as a team the successes of our school so far.

"We are so thankful to all of the brilliant people at LIFE who have put tremendous efforts in to make our school the fantastic school that it is.

"So far we’ve had some pretty amazing success stories from our students and we hope to help plenty more children in the years to come."
