A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a crash in Birkenhead this morning (Friday, August 25).
The incident has happened on Corporation Road.
Traffic reports stated that the road was shut both ways due to a "serious accident" from Pool Street to A5029 Freeman Street.
Merseyside Police have since confirmed that a man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "At around 4.15am this morning officers received a report of a collision on Corporation Road where it was reported that a grey Audi had collided with a lamppost.
"A woman, who was a passenger in the Audi, was taken to hospital with minor injuries to her hands and face.
"The driver of the Audi was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
"He was also taken to hospital for treatment after the incident.
"Corporation Road is closed from Poole Road whilst police continue their enquires and motorists are advised to avoid the area."
