WEATHERHEAD High School has announced some excellent achievements by its students this year in their GCSE and BTEC qualifications.

78% of grades awarded have been at least grade 4 / grade C / pass with the school saying students should be "very proud of what they have achieved today".

Many students achieved the highest grades 9-7/Distinction*-Distinction: a total of 333 grades were achieved at this level.

Jessica Thomas, Chloe Edwards, Lucy McEneany, Kay Lemco and Martha Cardin achieved an impressive 50 9-7/Distinction*/Distinction grades between them. They are all continuing their education in the school's Sixth Form.

Jessica achieved an exceptional eight grade 9s in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History and Drama; a grade 8 in Spanish and a Distinction* in BTEC Health and Social Care.

Chloe is also celebrating with four grade 9s in English Literature, Biology, History and Sociology; 4 grade 8s in English Language, Maths, Chemistry and Physics; grade 7 in Spanish and a Distinction* in BTEC Health and Social Care.

Lucy achieved the top 8 and 9 grades in English Language, English Literature, Biology, Geography and Sociology, as well as achieving a Distinction* grade in BTEC Media, whilst Kay achieved the top 8 and 9 grades in Chemistry, French, English Literature, Biology and Sociology. Martha Cardin achieved the highest grade 9 in both English Language and English Literature as well as Distinction* in BTEC Media.

Charlie Harwood, Gracie Singleton, Jasmine Sohl and Jess Lawton are also celebrating achieving grade 9 success.

Headteacher, Miss Whelan, said: “I am absolutely delighted with the achievement of all our students who have worked extremely well during their GCSE and BTEC courses in the most challenging circumstances ever. The students have worked very hard since starting at Weatherhead 5 years ago to achieve such success in all subjects, despite their education being disrupted by a global pandemic in Year 8 and the staff at Weatherhead have worked tirelessly to support them and deserve a special thank you. All our parents and carers have been so supportive and the strong partnership we have has been integral to the success of all our students.

"I am so proud of the students’ success and most students are returning in September to continue their studies in our Sixth Form. I wish all students the very best in their new ventures.”

Chair of Governors, Mrs Carol Rogers also congratulateed all Year 11 students on their deserved success and thanked all the staff for their professionalism, hard work and support over the years.
