AN investigation has been launched after a gang of teenagers broke into and vandalised a Wirral primary school.

On Saturday (August 5) CCTV footage captured five youths entering a shed at Rock Ferry Primary School on Ionic Street, Rock Ferry.

The footage shows the gang damaging play equipment, toys, and books in an outside area of the school.

On Monday (August 7) head teacher Ms Sara Radley posted a video to the school’s Facebook page showing the damage caused. The video's caption read: “I’m sorry to report that Mrs Myers Shone has come into school today to find out EYFS area has been broken into and trashed. I know you will all be as upset as we are by this pointless vandalism. The police will be informed, and we hope that CCTV might help us identify the culprits.”

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We are investigating an offence of criminal damage that occurred on the evening of Saturday 5th August 2023. 5 youths were captured on CCTV entering a shed at Rock Ferry Primary School, Ionic Street, Rock Ferry, Wirral.

“These youths caused considerable damage to play equipment, toys and books. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact us on 101 and quote crime number 23000721079.
