A BUYER has been found for a Neston pub that was up for sale at £1m.

The Wheatsheaf Pub & Kitchen on Neston Road was put on the market at the beginning of March after closing its doors.

Manchester letting agents, Fleurets, have recently updated the listing on their website to show that the property is now sold 'Subject to Contract' (STC).

The property was listed as a "substantial purpose-built public house" with "open-plan bar area with kitchens" and "four-bedroom private flat".

The Wheatsheaf sits on a large 1.3-acre site.

An application to list the pub as an Asset of Community Value was submitted by Neston resident Mr J Vickers in February to Cheshire West and Chester Council.

However, the application only appeared on the council's site on July 14, with the status "awaiting decision".

An asset of community value is a building or piece of land that is used to further the social well-being or interests of the local community.

If the asset is listed and it comes up for sale, then community groups will have six weeks to express an interest in buying the asset.
