A WIRRAL woman who helps people realise that they "can" has started a new weekly podcast.
Alison Blackler, from Bebington, had very little self-confidence when she was younger, and "didn't know" who she was after having critical parents.
After some time working as a secretary for the NHS, Alison trained to be a counsellor and fell in love with it.
Speaking to the Globe, she said: "I'm really passionate about it because so many people hold themselves back in terms of their career and more.
"I realised that confidence could come from understanding my own mind, so I set off to do that but also help others."
Alison worked in the NHS for 24 years, specialising in drug and alcohol for five years, and also worked in domestic violence and safeguarding.
Now, the 55-year-old has set up her own business and is looking to help others on the "path" that she was on but help them "fast track" their way through it.
"I've trained as a therapist and coach and I actually believe that people can find answers themselves through reading and watching", Alison said.
"People aren't on their own, we are all in this space together and our minds work similarly."
Alison has started a weekly podcast called 'Mental Wealth: The Podcast to Invest in Your Mind' which delves into various topics such as confidence and purpose for around 15 minutes so people can learn quick tips and tricks.
She added: "There is nothing better than seeing somebody realise that they can. I didn't have people help me realise I could so for me to be that person that can say to someone 'go on, you've got this' brings me joy for them.
"I'm a big believer that the hard things are often the best things that give us the essence of what's next. Being on the radio gave me the opportunity to learn and practice but what I noticed was everyone who wanted to listen was listening to uploads when it suited them, which is a podcast."
Alison will also have various guests join episodes, such as neuroscientists, doctors and people who have stories to tell.
She has also published two books called A Path Travelled: How to Make Sense of Your Life and A Path Travelled: How to Make Sense of Relationships.
To listen to Alison's podcast, which will have a new episode every Wednesday, you can visit Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
