A WIRRAL school has been rated 'Good in all areas' by Ofsted inspectors following a recent visit.

It was the first time in its history that Co-op Academy Bebington had received the grading from the government's inspection body, which described the school as one where "pupils, and students in the sixth form, thrive."

It continued: "they know that leaders and teachers have high expectations of them and they rise to meet them.

"Academically, all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), benefit from an ambitious and carefully designed curriculum.”

Co-op Academy Bebington, formerly Bebington High Sports College and Bebington High School, has been at the centre of its community for over 100 years, and joined Co-op Academies Trust in 2019.

Of students’ wellbeing the report read: “In this welcoming community, pupils are kind and tolerant towards each other. They are clear that the school is a place where everyone is free to be themselves.”

Headteacher Catherine Kelly said: "We are thrilled with the 'Good' rating from Ofsted, which is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaboration of our entire school community.

"Co-op Academy Bebington remains committed to delivering an exceptional education and providing our students with the skills, knowledge, and personal development opportunities necessary to succeed in their future endeavors."

Chris Tomlinson, chief executive of Co-op Academy Trust, said: "Co-op Academy Bebington is an outstanding example of everything the Trust believes.

"The Trust was developed with the purpose of providing opportunities for young people and the opportunities available at Bebington are second to none.

"Strong leadership is evident at every level within the school. Experienced and inspirational staff go the extra mile for their students.”

The report comments on the support available at Bebington: "A comprehensive programme of careers information, advice and guidance is implemented effectively for all pupils.

"This includes work experience during key stage four and key stage five. Combined with appropriate courses, this encourages pupils to have high aspirations for their future.

"Almost all pupils, and students in the sixth form, progress to positive destinations when they leave the school."
