WIRRAL will be able to witness a special RAF flyover to mark King Charles' Coronation tomorrow (May 6).

RAF Valley is planning to bring just a small taste of the Coronation festivities in London back to the North-West and North Wales on Saturday afternoon.

Four of the team's aircraft and crews will salute His Majesty The King (and Valley's Honorary Air Commodore) as they fly over Buckingham Palace early on Saturday afternoon.

The aircraft will then head for home and fly over Wrexham AFC's stadium, head across Chester, up the Mersey passing the Liver Building and Wirral coastline before crossing the Dee to the coast of Prestatyn, Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, finally reaching Llandudno.

The aircraft will then head to Douglas Isle of Man before returning to Ynys Mon via Holyhead.

Wing Commander Chris Ball, who is leading the Valley contingent as Officer Commanding 72(F) Squadron, said: "To take part in the Coronation Flypast is a huge honour for all of us and we want to share that with some of our many friends and neighbours on the way home as a small thank you for their support.

"We cannot get to all the locations we would like - but this allows us to bring a small taste of the day's festivities to many closer to home."
