THERE are two secret gardens available to visit in Neston this spring as part of The National Garden Scheme.

The National Garden Scheme (NGS) gives unique access to private gardens across the country and it raises money for nursing and health charities through admissions, tea and cake.

Tickets can be purchased on the NGS website or, for most places, it will be possible to turn up on the day.

Briarfield

Tucked under the south-facing side of Burton Wood the garden is home to many specialist and unusual plants, some available in the plant sale. This two-acre garden is on two sites, a short walk along an unmade lane.

Trees, shrubs, colourful herbaceous, bulbs, alpines and water features compete for attention.

The garden's next open day is on Sunday (April 16). You can get tickets online or turn up on the day. There will be refreshments in aid of Claire House Children's Hospice.

There is also a 'group opening' on Sunday, June 25. A group opening is when a number of gardens open together on the same day.

This garden opens as part of Burton Village Gardens.
