A DOG show staged by the charitable arm of restaurant chain Mowgli Street Food is back next weekend to raise vital funds for Claire House.

Described as 'the hottest four-legged family event of the year', The Mowgli Trust Dog Show takes place at Claremont Farm on Old Clatterbridge Road, Bebington on June 3 and 4.

Now in its fifth year, it will be hosted by Jonny Bongo of Bongo's Bingo and Adam Weighell of Heart Radio.

On the opening day, there will be 10 canine competitions, local food, drink, and craft vendors. The day will end with live sundowner acoustic sets from 4pm-8pm, to enjoy with family and friends.

On day two, there will be 10 canine competitions, local food, drink, and craft vendors, including agility demonstrations and have-a-go sessions.

Last year's event raised more than £72,000 for the hospice.

The Mowgli Trust was created by founder and chief executive of Mowgli Street Food restaurants, celebrity chef Nisha Katona.

Charitable giving sits are the heart of the business and enables Mowgli to give back to the communities she serves.

During a visit to Claire House last year, Nisha - a former barrister, awarded an MBE for her services to the food industry in 2019 - said: "Mowgli Street Food holds a dog show every year on Wirral and all the profits go to Claire House.

"We have a very strong affiliation with Claire House. When I built my second restaurant, Claire House became our house charity."

The 52-year-old, who lives in Willaston, continued: "I adore everything that they do, we've got a really good relationship with them.

"So, when I was doing the dog show, I thought it was absolutely obvious that the reason to do it is to bring families, together and have a fantastic day for Claire House."

She added: "Many ask why I launched a dog show the answer is clear. It brings the friendliest, warmest people together all for the love of the dogs that edify our busy lives with their greetings, their smiles, and their unswerving loyalty.

"They give the Great British lifestyle a wag of muddy, humble contentment- a day spent at the altar of the humble things in life is a no bad thing and who can complain when it’s all in aid for the wonderful Claire House.

"I choose to hold the dog show at a pulsing heart of our Merseyside community, Claremont farm."

Andrew Pimbley, director of Claremont Farm said: "I think that’s why people love the show so much, because it doesn't take itself too seriously.

"People love to show off their dogs and this gives them the ideal opportunity to do just that – and to collect funds for a great charity".

The Mowgli Dog Show expects to see over 8,000 attendees return this year. It is the ultimate family, foodie, and four-legged friend day out.
