A DOG has died after going missing on Thurstaston beach.
A Hoylake RNLI hovercraft was called out by the UK Coastguard at 4.35pm on Friday, February 3 to search for two dogs who had gone missing along the beach.
During the search, the Hoylake RNLI volunteer crew worked with the local Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.
At 6.00pm, West Kirby RNLI lifeboat was also tasked by the Coastguard to join the search in the river.
After hours of searching, only one of the dogs was found alive by the team.
A RNLI spokesperson told the Globe: “The multi-agency search continued for several hours before the RNLI hovercraft, lifeboat, and other assets were stood down.”
Posting on social media, RNLI West Kirby posted: “After a frustrating search only one of the dogs was found alive. A sad result for all agencies involved.”
