A POLICE officer was left with cuts and bruises after he was attacked in Birkenhead.
At around 4pm on Tuesday, January 31, an officer on patrol spotted a man in dark clothing riding an electric bike on Victoria Road, Birkenhead.
Officers tried to stop the man after they spotted him taking part in suspected drug deals in the area.
The man then assaulted the officer leaving him with cuts and bruising to his back and arm before he ran away to the garden of a nearby house.
A 24-year-old man from Birkenhead was then stopped and arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and driving offences.
He was taken to a police station in Wirral and has since been released under investigation.
