A 14-YEAR-OLD has been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage to a window at Ellesmere Port Library.

On Monday (January 30) officers attended the scene on Civic Way following reports of criminal damage.

The floor-to-ceiling window at the library had been smashed with a shopping trolley.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "Officers were called at around 1.30am on Monday, January 30 to Civic Way following reports of criminal damage in progress at the library.

"Police swiftly attended the scene and spoke to those present.

"A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and going equipped for theft.

"He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries."
