A 34-year-old man has been charged after a police officer was "seriously" assaulted in Ellesmere Port.
Peter Murray, of Croft Court, Ellesmere Port, was arrested at around 6pm on Monday, January 16, on Thornton Road, Ellesmere Port.
Murray has since been charged with section 18 wounding with intent, assault by beating and theft from a shop.
He appeared at Chester Magistrates' Court today, (Wednesday, January 18) where he was released on conditional bail.

Murray is next set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, February 15.
The section 18 assault charge relates to the assault of an officer on Thornton Road, Ellesmere Port, on Monday, January 16
The theft and assault charges relate to the theft of items from Sainsburys, Ellesmere Port, on the same day.
