MERSEYRAIL services have been suspended in the Chester and Ellesmere Port area due to a train fault.

The operator confirmed just after 8am today (Thursday, January 12) that trains were currently at a stand on both lines as a result of the issue in Hooton.

A rail replacement bus service is now in operation. It is running from Rock Ferry towards Chester and Ellesmere Port.
