A FLOOD alert has been issued for the River Dee catchment area, which covers Puddington, Little Sutton and Little Neston.
The flood alert comes after heavy rain continued throughout the north west today (Tuesday, January 10).
River levels are remaining high on the River Dee.
Further rainfall is forecast throughout the afternoon and evening. River levels are expected to remain high.
Check For Flooding (GOV.UK) said: "We will continue to work with emergency services and local authorities and to keep closely monitoring the situation.
"Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
"Plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."
