A four-year-old ballet dancer from Ukraine had a chance to peform on the Floral Pavilion stage during a recent visit.

Emili Marutyak travelled to the UK six weeks ago with her mother and has been staying with a host family in Birkenhead.

As soon as they arrived her mother got in touch with Wallasey School of Ballet so that Emili could continue with her passion and maintain some normality during an unsettling time.

She has been attending dance classes twice a week and rehearsing for the school's Live, Breathe & Dance show at the New Brighton venue.

Unfortunately, the show date clashes with a trip they have planned to try and reunite with her father by the Polish border.

Determined to provide her moment in the spotlight, the dance school organised a filmed dress rehearsal on the Floral Pavilion stage so that she can show the footage to her family.

Debbie, from the Wallasey School of Ballet said: "I have seen some pictures of where she danced in Ukraine at the Opera House with a full orchestra.

"She was very upset when she found out about the show dates which is when I approached Tom about the possibility of allowing the little ones to have a run through of one of their numbers.

"We can't thank the Floral Pavilion enough for allowing this to happen, it has given much joy to them."

The show will take place on Tuesday, October 25 and will showcase ballet, tap, jazz, modern, singing, and Spanish dance across a range of ages.
