ARTIST Adam Bresnen, also known as Brezaux, began the tribute to rock band, The Mysterines, on September 12.

The now complete piece can be found on Victoria Road above the Vanity Beauty Bar in New Brighton.

Adam, from Wallasey, told the Globe: “I was asked by Dan Davies, who is running the New Brighton regeneration project, to paint a large-scale mural of The Mysterines.

“A couple of the members used to work in Rockpoint Records, so Dan wanted a mural to champion and support the band and their recent success.”

In their recent success, The Mysterines have just been announced as the supporting act for the 2023 Arctic Monkeys UK and Ireland tour.

Adam, who said the piece took “several days to complete”, added: “I wanted to create a piece that wasn’t just larger than life.

“I painted it anamorphic which means it’s intended to be viewed from one viewpoint.

"For example, from the corner of the road (Victoria Road and Windsor Street) where most of the footfall will be coming from. This allows the viewer to step back and see the whole piece.

“So, when you look at it from the intended viewpoint, it will look like the whole band will be looking down towards you which creates more engagement between the mural and the viewer.

“But if you walk down Windsor Street the mural will become elongated and distorted.”

Since the completion of the mural, Adam’s work has been met with numerous comments on social media praising the artwork.

Adam said: “I’ve had lots of positive feedback from the local community waiting to hear back from the band who have just got back from touring.”

You can find the mural on 90 Victoria Rd, New Brighton, Wallasey CH45 2JF.
