ELLESMERE Port and Neston MP, Justin Madders, is holding a special collection day for a Cheshire Foodbank.

On Saturday September, 24 from 10.30am-12.30pm there will be an opportunity for people to donate to West Cheshire Foodbank outside Asda in Ellesmere Port.

Donations can include any tinned or dried goods. The MP has confirmed the most needed items this month are UHT juice, UHT milk, instant coffee, instant pasta/noodles, instant mash, tinned meats and tinned puddings.

Justin Madders, MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, said: “This is a special collection in support of the organisers of the West Cheshire Foodbank who are calling out for essential supplies for many people in our community who are in regular need of help.

“Shoppers and passers-by have always been generous with their donations to these important collections and I am in no doubt that both Ellesmere Port residents and visitors to the town, many of whom might well be struggling themselves, will nevertheless do their best to contribute whatever they can.”

Ian Oulton, Trustee of West Cheshire Foodbank, said: "We are incredibly grateful for Justin’s continued support for WCFB - we continue to experience high demand from local people in need of help - this collection is timely as we try to build up stocks in advance of what we anticipate will be an exceptionally worrying time for many as the colder weather impacts.

"We are hoping that many local organisations will help in running a Harvest themed collection for us over the next few weeks.

"Collection campaigns like this not only help with replenishing stocks of food but also help raise the profile of our campaign to see a fairer benefit system in this country. It isn’t right that people have to resort to Foodbanks."
