A PRIMETIME BBC show is coming to Parkgate to explore its history.
Presented by archaeologist Ben Robinson, the BBC show 'Villages by the Sea' is a series that looks at coastal villages that have often been on the front line of history.
Previous episodes have explored villages such as Ravenglass in Cumbria, Cley next to the Sea in Norfolk and Gorey in Jersey.
Ben Robinson will visit the village that sits on the estuary of the River Dee in Cheshire.
The episode will dive deeper into Parkgate's history, landlocked due to the estuary’s shifting silt. However, 250 years ago, it was a bustling harbour.
When filming, producers were spotted at various locations around the village and interviewed several locals.
'Villages by the Sea' in Parkgate will air next Monday (September, 12) at 8.30pm.
It will be avaliable to watch on BBC One North West or on BBC IPlayer shortly after it broadcasts.
