The Headteacher of Prenton High School in Wirral has said that staff are “incredibly proud” of students who collected their GCSE and BTEC results today.
Having spent almost two school years of their high school journey navigating the challenges of national lockdowns, the resilience and determination of students have been rewarded with an impressive set of GCSE results.
Results show that Prenton High School students have performed strongly in the first set of national exams since 2019, achieving some of the best History results ever seen by the school and performing consistently well across the breadth of the curriculum.
Headteacher, Lisa Ayling said: “The class of 2022 is a shining example of what can be achieved with determination, courage, and the right support.
"Placing student well-being at the heart of our school has ensured that all students have been guided throughout their journey to recognise the resources available to them, and their personal strengths that have carried them to individual success, even though some faced significant challenges.
“Their spirit of endeavour has led to fantastic academic results, which alongside the wider skills and experiences they have gained, will set them up for exciting futures.
"Staff who have worked closely with students, both academically and pastorally, have been delighted to share in their success along the way and wish them well as they continue their journey.
"Our school values of trust, respect, integrity, kindness, and endeavour have shone through each and every student.
“We are particularly delighted with the outstanding results for Maths, English, History, Art and Photography. Students’ achievements are all the more notable when we consider that this was their first full academic year in school since they were in Year 8. Today is a special day and we are so proud of all of our students. I wish them the very best of luck with their next steps and look forward to hearing about their future successes.”
Phoebe Williams, from Eastham, was one of the students celebrating today having earned outstanding results.
Commenting on her achievement she said: “I was hoping to do well but it hasn’t quite sunk in yet. I am so happy and feel excited to be heading to Birkenhead Sixth Form College to study Business, English Language and Psychology as part of my ambition to become a British Sign Language Interpreter.
"The last few years have been surreal but I am taking away some wonderful memories of my time at Prenton High School.”
Whilst studying towards her GCSEs, Phoebe also took on the role of Head Girl at Prenton High School and achieved the British Sign Language Level 3 qualification in her own time.
