HEBRON Evangelical Church in Liscard is offering anyone a place on their free Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Life Skills course this September.

Nathan Lanceley, CAP’s Life Skills Manager in Wallasey, said: “Many local families living on a low income are already in a financial crisis due to widespread rising costs. The October energy price rise, combined with all the other price increases, will result in debt, destitution and desperation for thousands of local people this winter.

“That’s one of the reasons we’re launching CAP’s Life Skills course this September. It’s a friendly and relaxed short course designed to help people navigate life on a low income. We offer practical money saving techniques, like how to choose the energy provider for the best deal, budgeting advice as well as offering people a 1-2-1 with a Life Skills Coach.”

Jenny. who joined a Life Skills course, said: “It gave me a lot of support, encouragement, and practical help. It actually does make you think about your finances and cooking - we’ve even planted things like our own tomato plants. They teach all sorts of really good stuff.

“There’s lots of discussion between the delegates; we were able to share tips and tricks with one another. I struck up friendships with people on the course, which gave me a lot more confidence; I don’t worry so much and I have actually got a social life now.”

CAP’s Life Skills course will launch on Monday, September 12 at 1pm at Hebron Evangelical Church in Liscard, Wallasey, CH45 4JL
