A SLEDGEHAMMER was discovered by police officers while patrolling a park in New Ferry.
Officers discovered the weapon while policing New Ferry Park this morning, Friday, August 12.
The patrol was part of Merseyside Police's open land searches to prevent youths from using weapons and causing damage to property.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “Team Bebington continues to police New Ferry Park this morning as officers conduct open land searches to prevent youths from using weapons and causing damage to property.
“Officers have located a sledgehammer during this morning’s activity.
“Please report any issues via 101 or 999.”
