FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in Eastham after plumes of smoke could be seen coming from a disused youth club.
On Tuesday, August 9, at around 6pm Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS) were called to an incident on Lyndale Avenue, Eastham.
On arrival, crews found the abandoned building which used to be a youth club on fire.
Firefighters and two engines were spotted at the scene as crews worked to extinguish the flames.
The fire was put out by 6.37pm and crews left the scene at 8.06pm.
No injuries were reported.
A spokesperson for MFRS told the Globe: “Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to Lyndale Avenue, Eastham, on Tuesday 9th August.
“Crews were alerted at 6pm and on scene at 6.17pm. Two fire engines attended, as well as a fire engine from Cheshire FRS.
“On arrival crews found a single storey disused youth building involved in fire.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to tackle the fire.
“The fire had been extinguished by 6.37pm. Fire crews left the scene at 8.06pm.”
The incident was then handed over to Merseyside Police who are investigating the cause of the blaze.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “At around 6.30pm yesterday, Tuesday 9 August, we received a report of a fire at an abandoned building on Lyndale Avenue, Eastham.
“Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.
