AN Ellesmere Port man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted murder.

Marc Weaver of Lancaster Gardens, Ellesmere Port, was arrested on Monday, July 11, in connection with a serious assault that left two people with puncture wounds and another person injured.

The 47-year-old was later charged with attempted murder, section 18 assault, section 47 assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

Appearing via videolink at Chester Crown Court, being held remotely at Chester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 10, Weaver entered not guilty pleas to all four charges.

The alleged offensive weapon was said in court to be two kitchen knives sellotaped together at the handle.

The charges are in connection with an incident in Hope Farm Road, Great Sutton, at about midnight on Monday, July 11.

A 73-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were taken to hospital with stab wounds.
