PICTURES show the aftermath of a fire that has devastated parts of a Wirral beauty spot, destroying huge areas of grass and bushes.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Grange Hill in West Kirby at around 6pm on Tuesday (August 9) following reports of a fire.
Once three fire engines arrived at the scene they found a 200mx50m section of grass well alight.
Another area of grass on fire was spotted closer to Leigh Road. A backup crew was requested and found another 100mx100m square of grass alight.
Huge areas where grass and bushes once were are now black, with some tree branches also damaged.
Firefighters remain at the scene this morning, damping down the affected areas. There are pockets of smoke on parts of the hill too.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service has been contacted for more detals.
