A man from Ellesmere Port has been jailed for dangerous driving after a police pursuit.

Andrew Rogan appeared at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 30 July, where he was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison.

The 49-year-old of Brooklyn Drive, Great Sutton, had pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified, failing to provide a blood specimen for analysis, driving without insurance and failing to stop.

The charges relate to an incident that took place on Friday, July 29 where Rogan was spotted driving dangerously by officer Chris Swash.

Rogan failed to stop despite officer Swash’s efforts which meant a police pursuit ensued.

Officer Swash used emergency equipment to stop the vehicle Rogan was operating before arresting him on suspicion of driving while disqualified.

Following the sentencing PC Chris Swash said: "Rogan was well aware that he was disqualified from driving as a result of previous offences and so did not hold a full driving licence.

"His actions show a clear disregard for the law and ultimately put the lives of innocent members of the public at risk.

"Thankfully, he is now behind bars and is being held accountable for his actions."
