THERE’S no better place to enjoy a cold drink in the sunshine and now it’s official – The Red Fox has been awarded the title of Best Beer Garden in Wirral 2022.
The pub is no stranger to winning awards having been named as one of Wirral CAMRA’s Lockdown Heroes for work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The hard-working team at the Thornton Hough pub couldn’t be happier with their latest honour.
Each week in our Best of 2022 competition, we have been focusing on different categories to find the best that Wirral has to offer with 12 awards for hair, nails, beauty, pubs, independent shop being given out as well as the best fish and chips, pies, breakfast, afternoon tea, roast dinner and pizza already decided.
Voting took place over the weekend in the latest round of the competition with the award for Best for Children up for grabs and the winner will be announced tomorrow, Wednesday.
Next up was beer gardens and we wanted to find Wirral’s perfect place to sit outside and enjoy a cold drink and a bite to eat.
The Liverpool Road pub came away victorious and it’s no surprise when you see the beautiful garden.
Deputy manager Laura Gaynor said: “The current management team took over seven-and-a-half years ago and we restored the beautiful sandstone building to its former glory, keeping many of its original features.
“We opened The Little Fox two years ago which is now a licensed wedding venue with its own private garden.
“We’ve also got stone baked pizzas on the menu cooked in our new woodfired oven so customers can enjoy a slice of pizza and a cold drink or two in our award-winning beer garden.”
During the second Covid-19 lockdown, manager Dave Green started a click and collect service selling takeaway food and cask ale and his staff took to social media in an effort to lift people’s spirits.
Nominations for The Red Fox said they’d enjoyed “outstanding food and fabulous service” and “the view is something else”.
A dedicated team of gardens ensure the outside space looks perfect and their efforts have been rewarded with the Best Beer Garden 2022 title.
