A CAR has been spotted to be parking on a pavement numerous times over the past few weeks, blocking access to pedestrians.

The car has been parking on the corner between Rochester Drive and Thornton Road in Ellesmere Port.

Amy Powell, 22, from Ellesmere Port, explained her frustration about the car parking on the pavement for a number of weeks.

She told the Globe: "I had to help a poor man who was on his own in a in a wheelchair. I had to help him up the kerb because he can’t use the drop as it’s blocked by the car."

The post, which was originally uploaded to the social media platform Facebook has received attention from other residents.

Wirral Globe:

Rachel Williams wrote: "Stuff like this happens all the time to me. I’m in a wheelchair and often have to go ages out of my way because someone has blocked a dropped kerb.

"Wheelchair users can’t just hop on and off a kerb so we have to go and find another one which takes a lot to push out of the way just cos someone does this."

Sarah Griffiths added: "It is very disrespectful. Especially since there are plenty of other places they could park without causing any disruption to people who use wheelchairs, guide dogs and people with prams and young children."

Rule 243 of the Highway Code specifies that you must not stop or park where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles.

It has not been confirmed if the Civil Parking Enforcement has been notified.
