AN APPEAL has been launched by Wirral residents to help rebuild a beer garden that was destroyed during a fire.
At 2.44am on Monday, July 18 firefighters were called to The Dee View Pub in Heswall after a van was found alight in the car park of the pub.
The blaze, which had spread to the decking and fencing of the pub garden, was extinguished by fire crews who remained on the scene until 5.13am.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said an investigation into the cause of the fire had been carried out and it was believed the fire started accidentally.

Speaking of the devastating news, owners Kay and Lee posted on the pub’s Facebook page: “Woke up this morning to a devastating fire that’s ripped through our lovely beer garden and decking.
“We are gutted and so disheartened today, don’t know where to start.
“It feels tough right now, but we will find a way to rebuild from this.”
Since the incident, a GoFundMe fundraising appeal has been set up by a local resident which has raised £1,500 to help the pub with repairs.
The appeal states: “As many people on the Wirral know a fire broke out last night in the early hours destroying the beer garden of the much-loved Dee View Pub in Heswall.
“The cause of the fire has been captured on CCTV and the fire brigade has made a clear report.
“Kay and Lee have had the most difficult time financially, particularly after covid and it’s unclear if the insurance will pay for the damage.
“They need support now to help clear the debris and replace the decking and furniture so that they can trade as quickly as possible again.
“If anyone would like to donate to help get them up and running the beer garden again for summer then this is gratefully received.
“If the insurance does pay out the items bought from this donation page will be donated to local charities which will be posted on the Dee View Facebook for transparency.
“Kay and Lee are always the first to help others now it’s our local communities' turn to help them.”
As well as donations, the pub has been met with hundreds of well wishes from customers offering their support.
